"Let's make a video game!"
Everything we do has to be unique. It's the blessing and curse of an artist.
Without knowing how to code whatsoever, or draw, or make other things that a videogame needs, Chillamix set out to do an almost impossible task. However, to make a great story, a plot needs to be the main attraction.
"At first we had an old chef master that would die right in the beginning, and all the boyz had really long backstories the player could explore. After finishing the rough draft we realized how big the project was going to be."
After a bit of rewriting and precoding, Chillamix decided that it was too much to cover. They wanted a quick story, with only about 10-15 minutes of gameplay. Keeping it simple was the only option.
Once the final draft was down, Chillamix immediately posted auditions. Through castingcall.club, Eric Larrea (Diego) and Patrick Jean-Jacques (Carmen) were found. Travis Case (Berkeley) was orinally part of the Celestival cast as Yuka's voice, so Chillamix was estatic to find his emailed audition for the role. Finally, to cast Aero there was a bit of a bump in the road.
"We really wanted someone who spoke Korean fluently to play Aero, since all of his lines are Korean. Luckily I had some friends over there and asked around.
홍성현 was able to send in the lines, and the product was excellent."
However, when Aero's song files were downloaded, the vocals were unusable due to the sound quality. Instead of just scrapping Aero's song, We reached out to a singer on Youtube through a NCT cover song. Shortly after, Mikelz joined the Boba Boyz as Aero's singer voice.
The Demo version for Boba Boyz doesn't come out until August 31st, so sit tight until it's offical release date. We hope you have as much fun playing it as we did making it. Thank you to our wonderful voice actors and artist, zkwon18 for dedicating their time and energy into this project.
